At MGR Strategic Communications, one of the jobs I had was to call major companies and speak with their marketing department about an editorial opportunity. The goal was to get the marketing head to discuss with our editor the chance for one of our publicists to write a free article about their company as an industry leader. This is free marketing for them and it benefits the MGR writers to stay on top of industry trends. During my week, I was expected to make about 150 calls. Getting to the director of marketing was typically a challenge- and convincing them to do the meeting was an even bigger struggle, but not impossible! During my time I set up 12 meetings and 11 out of the 12 occurred. Because I was able to secure 11 meetings, I was also compensated for my achievement. Below is the list of companies that I secured.
